HOUSTON – Police are investigating a deadly accident that shut down lanes on the Katy Freeway in west Houston.
According to the Houston Police Department, a work truck parked late Wednesday night near Beltway 8. The driver got out and started laying signs inside the emergency lanes for street sweepers.

Police said that's when a pickup truck heading westbound slammed into the worker's truck. The pickup driver died at the scene.
Officers said the worker was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
