Police said on January 23, witnesses reported seeing Harper on fire and running near vehicles in the parking lot in the 4700 Robertson. The witnesses stopped and helped put out the flames on her body and called 911.

Houston police investigators later learned Harper was a victim of domestic violence and filed charges in July against her husband, Tindol.

Authorities said Harper died on October 14 at Memorial Hermann Hospital from the injuries she suffered nine months earlier.

Tindol was originally charged with aggravated assault of a family member, but after his wife's death, charges against him were upgraded to murder.
