HPD: Pickup thieves run victim off the road

Victim saw burglars breaking into truck

HOUSTON – Houston police are looking for a pair of car thieves involved in a chase early Monday morning in east Houston.

Investigators said the victim heard the robbers breaking into his pickup around 2 a.m., so he went outside.

According to police, the man saw two men driving off in his pickup truck, so got into his girlfriend's Chevy HHR and followed them.

Police said the man chased the thieves eastbound on the East Freeway.

Just before the South Wayside exit, police said the thieves rammed the man's car causing the victim to lose control and spin into a guardrail.

He was not hurt, but police said the suspects got away.
