HPD: Burglars attack woman when she arrives home

One suspected burglar caught, another on the run

HOUSTON - Police are searching for a man who attacked a woman in her own home.

According to investigators, on Jan. 6 Effie Thompson, 66, surprised Marcus Benitez, 39, and another male suspect while her home on Etta Street and Firnat Street was being burglarized.

Police said the two suspected burglars grabbed Thompson by her neck and dragged her.

The two men stole her cell phone, TV, computer and wallet, said police.

Benitez was taken into custody next door to the home. The other suspected thief has not been caught.

Police released a sketch of the thief who is still on the run.
