Houston Rodeo cookoff winners announced

Roughly 400 teams took place in this year's cook-off

HOUSTON – A world-class cookoff has reached it's crescendo.

The cream of the barbecuing crop emerged from their pits and processed out to the main stage at Reliant Park on Saturday to find out their fates in the world's championship BBQ cookoff.

"I'm pretty anxious, you know, hard work, good competition out here," said Brent Rosson. "You want to be the best, and beat the best out here."

Tent after tent pitched along Reliant Park housed roughly 400 teams who have spent the last three days putting homemade favorites and family secret recipes in the running for the best barbecue around.

In the end, only a handful could take home top honors, and only one team could walk away grand champions.

"I'm still trying to wake up from a dream," said Kerry Fellows, grand champion. "This is unreal. Somebody had to tell me I won overall. It's still soaking in."
