Houston Red Cross volunteers respond to tornado victims

HOUSTON – Red Cross volunteers from the Greater Houston Chapter are on their way to help with the relief efforts caused by the recent deadly storms to our east.

The crews will provide aid to those in Arkansas and other surrounding states affected by the tornadoes which have left at least 28 people dead over the past two days.

The volunteers are driving an emergency response vehicle to distribute food and supplies.

"Just this morning we were looking at some people out there needing basic things like a toothbrush," said volunteer Jason Grieger. "We are there to supply those things and we are on the way."

The Red Cross says the Houston crews should be able to hold enough food on the truck to supply around 600 meals over the next two weeks.
