Houston police officer involved in accident with 18-wheeler

Patrol car burst into flames after crash

HOUSTON - A Houston Police officer is recovering after walking away from a crash involving an 18-wheeler.

It happened just after 8 p.m. Monday on the I-45 service road and Cavalcade.

Police say the officer was headed to a call when the 18-wheeler slammed into the patrol car.

The officer was able to get out of the car just before it burst into flames.

The officer suffered a wrist injury and was taken to the hospital to be checked out.

The truck driver was not hurt.

Police are investigating who was at fault.
