HOUSTON - Vara's Sports Bar was just about to close early Sunday morning when a man was shot and killed inside the north Houston bar.
Police said three Hispanic men entered the bar on the North Freeway near Coronado around 2 a.m. Sunday.
According to police, one of the suspects tried to force a woman to dance with him. Another person at the bar, later identified as 39-year-old Jesus Solis, intervened and told the suspects the woman had a boyfriend at the bar. One of the suspects then left the bar, went to a vehicle, got a handgun and walked back in the bar.
Police said the suspect confronted Solis and then shot him in the leg. When Solis attempted to walk away, the suspect again approached him and shot him several times.
Officials said Solis collapsed and died at the scene.
Police said the three suspects drove off in a silver sedan.
