Houston 4th graders produce daily newscast for school

HOUSTON – From scripts to a teleprompter, a west Houston school is training the next generation of news anchors and reporters.

For more than a decade, the Kinkaid School has helped its students prepare for a career in television.

The fourth graders produce a daily 15-minute, live newscast for the lower school. They take turns being the anchors, reporters and directors, and also run the production equipment.

Rhonda Fain, news director for Kinkaid Lower School TV, says she enjoys teaching the children about their individual jobs, but also stresses a bigger life lesson: working together as a team.

KLS-TV has been on the air for 12 years.
