High-speed crash kills teen, injures 2 others

HOUSTON – A horrible car crash has left a family, a school, and a community grieving.

Three teens were in a pickup truck when it crashed on Antoine in northwest Houston Wednesday night and one of them was killed.  Marvin Martinez was just 16 years old.

Where the truck came to rest there's now a small shrine now to the boy who died in the crash.

Martinez was a student at Davis High School. He played soccer and football there. Friends and teammates gathered Thursday to remember him.

"If you needed him he would always be there. There's not one time you can say he's not there for you. He was there for me, him, him, and him; everybody. He never let us down," said teammate Joshua Sanchez.

According to friends, Martinez was a passenger along with his 13-year-old brother, Reuben, in a truck driven by schoolmate Bertin Agulara. As the truck came around an "S" curve on Antoine, it spun out of control and rolled over.

Agulara and Reuben Martinez were thrown out. Marvin, the only one wearing a seatbelt, was trapped inside and killed.

"We're all going to miss him and we just need to stay strong and keep going on. We're never going to forget him," Sanchez said.

The other two victims were taken to an area hospital in stable condition.

Police say there's no evidence anyone in the truck was drinking. Investigators say the driver was just going too fast.
