High-speed chase ends in violent crash

Chase started because pickup lights were off

PASADENA - Two men were arrested Friday after leading police on a high-speed chase through southeast Houston and Pasadena early Friday that ended in a crash.

Police said they tried to pull the men over on Highway 225 near Manchester Street around 3 a.m. because they did not have working headlights. The suspects refused to pull over and sped off, officials said.

As the officer chased the men, she said she saw them throw a bag with what appeared to be white powder out of a window.

The driver of the pickup truck got off Highway 225 at the Richie Street exit. He then did a U-turn, lost control of the truck and slammed into a guardrail, officials said.

Both men were bloodied after suffering cuts and bruises in the crash, but their injuries were minor.

Charges are pending. The men's names were not released.
