High-end Highland Village dress shop having sample sale

Deals only for three hours on Sunday

HOUSTON – The words "wedding" and "economical" are rarely ever uttered in the same sentence.

That's why we're filling you in on a sample sale happening this weekend with deals so cheap, you'll find some reason to buy a new dress.

If you've never been into BHLDN in Highland Village, think high end, one-of-a-kind boutique; but this Sunday, June 2, for three hours only, think "bargain" on event dresses, bridal gowns and even shoes.

BHLDN opened in Highland Village almost two years ago. It's owned by Urban Outfitters Inc, that also owns Anthropology, Free People and Terrain.

BHLDN is a cater-to-the-customer, spoil-the-bride kind of shop, but for three hours only this Sunday, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. it will be rolling racks and help-yourself as the store clears out inventory that is normally sold from $200 up to $3,800 for as low as $25.

"Some of them may have been tried on, may have been on the floor here in Houston and in Chicago; but most of what we've unpacked for this sample sale is new," explained BHLDN events manager Cynthia Walker.

Long and short wedding gowns, event dresses and shoes will be included in the sample sale.

Sizes range from 2 to 12; but to see exactly what's available you have to show up.

There will likely be a line outside the door; and with eager brides-to-be anxious to find the perfect gown, it might be a little crazy.

"We hope it's crazy with enthusiasm," laughed Walker.

Be prepared for a frenzy.

You might even want to wear gym shorts and tennis shoes, something you can try dresses on over because they believe the sample sale inventory will go fast.
