HFD to host free children's flu shot clinic

HOUSTON – The Houston Fire Department and the Care Van Program will provide free flu shots to children.

The vaccines will be administered to children ages six months to 18 years old at HFD's Val Janke Training Facility in the 8000 block of Braniff near Hobby Airport in southeast Houston on Saturday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Immunization records are not required and parents and guardians must accompany their children.  No CHIP clients will be accepted. 

The Houston Fire Department and the Care Van Program are also providing all children's vaccines for free at several HFD stations this spring.  The clinic hours are from 4 to 6:30 p.m. The dates and locations are:

  • Feb. 7: HFD Fire Station 23, 8005 Lawndale
  • Feb. 21: HFD Fire Station 59, 13925 S. Post Oak
  • March 7: HFD Fire Station 44, 675 Maxey Road
  • March 21: HFD Fire Station 23, 8005 Lawndale
  • April 4: HFD Fire Station 59, 13925 S. Post Oak
  • April 18: HFD Fire Station 44, 675 Maxey Road
  • May 2: HFD Fire Station 23, 8005 Lawndale
  • May 16: HFD Fire Station 59, 13925 S. Post Oak
  • May 23: HFD Fire Station 10, 6600 Corporate Drive
