HCSO: Irate suspect had box cutter

HOUSTON – A man was arrested after attacking a deputy at the Harris County jail in downtown Houston Friday morning.

Investigators said the man was carrying a box cutter when he entered the jail on San Jacinto Street and Commerce Street around 2:25 a.m. He approached a deputy working at the security desk and started arguing with him.

During the altercation, deputies said the suspect punched the deputy. The deputy pulled out his Taser and shocked the suspect to subdue him.

The suspect was then taken into custody.  It was unclear what caused the man to become enraged.

Charges are pending in the case.
