HOUSTON - Deputies said a welfare check on a man turned into a homicide investigation after they found him dead and wrapped in a blanket.
Deputies with the Harris County Sheriff's Office said they found the man inside his home at the Timberwalk Apartments in the 5600 block of Timber Creek Place Drive and Highway 6 at 1 a.m. Friday.
Crime scene tape and flashing lights soon surrounded the victim's home. A neighbor, Demarkus Phears, said he wasn't sure what to think when he got home.
"I got home and there were a bunch of cops out here, down the whole street. They came in and told me, asked me if I knew anything about a homicide. Someone had been murdered, my neighbor, somebody around here," said Phears.
Investigators said they're still trying to put all the pieces together.
"There is a female we are talking to. We are trying to ascertain what happened. At this point, we don't know the circumstances of death are," said Felipe Rivera with the Harris County Sheriff's Office Homicide Division.
So far, the name of the victim and cause of death have not been released.
