HOUSTON – Harris County commissioners discussed the future of the Astrodome Tuesday.

During a meeting on May 23, consultants recommended the Dome be turned into a multipurpose facility that could be used for trade shows, exhibitions and sporting events.

On Tuesday, the recommendations were forwarded to the Harris County Commissioner's Court for consideration at the June 26 Capital Improvement Meeting.

The Harris County Sports and Convention Corporation talked a little about their new Reliant Park-Astrodome master plan.

One person speaking to the commissioners suggested tearing down the Dome for parking and selling seats and other memorabilia to fans to raise some extra funds.

Judge Ed Emmett said it will come down to a court decision, and all options need to be reviewed.

No specific final date for a decision has been set.

Some believe it will likely be put to voters in the near future.
