Driver trapped after car crash; in serious condition

HOUSTON – A woman was trapped in her car after colliding with an 18-wheeler in northwest Harris County.

Around 11:15 p.m. Tuesday, deputies responded to a major car accident on Greenhouse Road near Clay Road. When they arrived on the scene, they found an 18-wheeler had slammed into the side of a Toyota, trapping the car's driver.

Deputies said the Toyota was traveling eastbound on Clay and the 18-wheeler was headed southbound on Greenhouse when the vehicles collided.

Rescue crews pried the woman out of the car and transported her to Memorial Hermann Hospital in serious but stable condition.  The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured in the crash.

According to deputies, both drivers claimed to have a green light when they entered the intersection. An investigation is under way.
