Downed tree removed after blocking lanes of Memorial Drive

HOUSTON – A downed tree caused traffic issues near Memorial Park during Tuesday's morning commute.

Houston police reported that the 55-foot post oak tree had fallen down into the street on Memorial Drive at Crestwood around 4 a.m.

Officials said it appears the tree fell because of the saturated ground caused by the recent rain.

The tree had blocked two inbound lanes of Memorial Drive, allowing traffic to slowly get by on the far left lane.

Crews were called out to been called in to remove the tree.
