HOUSTON – A doctor facing charges for allegedly poisoning her former lover and fellow doctor's coffee is a free woman after posting bond.

We checked and the status of Dr. Ana Marie Gonzales-Angulo's license with the state board shows her as fully licensed.  They tell us an investigation would be a confidential matter. Meantime, shock is spreading across the entire medical community.

A judge called up the M.D. Anderson doctor to explain that she has a warrant for her arrest for felony offense of aggravated assault.

A serious charge to warrant a no bond hold initially. According to court documents Dr. Gonzalez-Angulo was dating colleague Dr. George Blumenschein. Court records say the 42-year-old used ethylene glycol to try and poison Dr. Blumenschein by putting it in his coffee.

M.D. Anderson confirms Dr. Gonzalez-Angulois on paid administrative leave.

She's a researcher and sees patients, but we understand there's no disruption to her patients.

The alleged victim in this case has filed an emergency protection order against Dr. Gonzalez-Angulo. She is out on $50,000 bond.

If the state medical board takes any action against Dr. Gonzalez-Angulo, the decision will be made public.
