Lt. Russ Baker said that when deputies arrived at the scene, Guzman ran back into his home on County Road 574.  When he refused to answer the door, deputies said they forced their way in and found Guzman holding a .22-caliber rifle.

Brazoria County deputies could not confirm whether that was the same gun used to shoot the dog.

Guzman was taken into custody and booked into the Brazoria County Jail with bond set at $42,000.
