Car break-ins reported at dog park

3 windows were smashed, purse stolen at Millie Bush Dog Park

HOUSTON – Dog owners take their pups to a west Houston dog park for fun and exercise, but while they are keeping an eye on their pets, crooks are looking around for valuables.

Harris County Precinct 5 deputy constables dusted for prints after three vehicles were broken into at Millie Bush Dog Park about 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Wes Williams was the first person to realize what had happened, just 20 yards from where he was playing with his dog, Jack.

"You got this road noise, you couldn't hear a window breaking," Williams said.

The crooks didn't get anything from Williams' truck, but just one parking spot away, they did steal a purse from Matthew Sneed's van.

Sneed and his wife had their hands full with their two young kids and two dogs, but said they do remember parking beside a black SUV with a guy sitting inside.

Within 15 minutes after the Sneed's wife's purse was stolen, their credit card was used at a Valero Station on Addicks Clodine and Westpark Road. The thieves charged $92 in gas and paid at the pump, detectives said.

There isn't any surveillance video of the gas pumps, but investigators dug deep in the trash cans at the gas station looking for the woman's stolen orange purse. They didn't find it.

Deputies said break-ins at the dog park happen a lot. Even though two of the car owners in this case didn't have anything stolen, deputies said it's still a good idea to keep everything out of your car so it isn't mistaken for something valuable.
