BAYTOWN, Texas – Baytown police say a 12-year-old boy who told them a man tried to kidnap him has admitted he made the whole story up.
On Wednesday morning, the boy told police he was waiting for the school bus at the intersection of Maple and Pinehurst. He says he was alone when a man drove up in a faded black older model extended cab pickup truck and tried to take him.

Some Baytown parents received warning letters about the case and the boy even gave police a description of the suspect.
Then on Friday, Baytown police say during their investigation that the boy recanted his story.
