HOUSTON – A bird strike forced a plane, bound for Boston, to turn around and land at Bush Intercontinental Airport just after 7 p.m. Thursday.
The United Airlines flight had 166 passengers and five crew members on board, no one was hurt.
According to the FAA, the plane hit the birds during departure from IAH and they struck the captain's side of the cockpit just under the window.
The pilot burned fuel in the air for about 15 minutes then returned to the runway and made a safe landing.
No word at this time if the aircraft sustained any damage.
The passengers were put on another plane and flown to Boston.
