Baytown PD: Husband shoots wife, then self in attempted murder-suicide

BAYTOWN, Texas – The Baytown Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened on the 1300 block of Olive Street.

Authorities say the shooting was an attempted murder-suicide between a husband and wife in the midst of a divorce.

Witnesses say they saw a husband and wife arguing outside their car when the man went inside a house to get a gun.

He came back out and shot his wife in the chest multiple times. Police say the man then shot himself once in the head.

The man dropped the gun and went crawling after it, but a neighbor who was nearby kicked the gun away from him, according to investigators.

Both were transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital via LifeFlight and are said to be in critical condition. They are both undergoing surgery.

If the husband survives, he will be charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault, according to police.
