Air conditioner issues heat up Humble day care

HUMBLE, Texas – Two months ago, Greg Thompson started sending his 4-year-old daughter Chloe to Children's Learning Adventure in Humble.

He claims ever since then, the facility, which opened for business about six months ago, has been plagued with air conditioning problems.

"I've been trying and trying for two months to get this A/C fixed and I keep hearing different excuses on and on and on," Thompson said.

Thompson says his daughter is thriving at the center and he doesn't want to remove her. But the conditions inside her classroom are downright unbearable.

"What you feel out here is probably what you feel inside that room," Thompson said.

He says yesterday was the final straw and contacted KPRC Local 2.

"Chloe was all red faced," Thompson said. "Her cheeks were red, nose was red. She was upset. I asked her what was wrong she said she couldn't take a nap because it was too hot in there. We the parents pay over $200 for this facility and I don't think it's far that we're paying that much money and not having the kids in a comfort zone."

A statement sent to KPRC from Children's Learning Adventures reads in part:

"Our top priority is the safety and comfort of the children in our care. When maintenance issues arise, we immediately consult with our vendors to find solutions as quick as possible. Our contractor has been out on an ongoing basis to troubleshoot temperature regulation and humidity in two of our classrooms. In the meantime, we purchased dehumidifiers deemed appropriate by licensing standards and added them to our two classrooms to improve the comfort level."
