3 arrested after donut shop, Family Dollar store robbed

HOUSTON – Two teens and a man were arrested after police said they robbed a donut shop and a dollar store in southwest Houston Thursday morning.

Police said the three suspects robbed a donut shop, before robbing the Family Dollar Store in the 13500 block of Beechnut.

The suspects then took off in a vehicle and led police on a chase.

Police said deputies chased the suspect's vehicle until it crashed into a minivan and hit a traffic light pole at the intersection of Synott and Bellaire.

Officials said the suspects jumped out of the car and ran away, but they were caught and arrested about a block away.

Safiya Baker was sitting in her minivan at a red light at Synott and Bellaire when she saw the suspects car speeding towards her.

"And he hit me and the next thing you know the car was turning," Baker said. "I slammed into that pole and he looked up and he ran out the car. I saw him run out the car."

Kurt Mayer pulled out his phone to record the arrests.

"He got a half a block down running as fast as he could and the police got him," Mayer said.

Deputies say they recovered weapons and stolen items. Two of the three armed robbers were juveniles.

Names of those involved have not been released as police continue investigating.

Detectives are also looking at the surveillance video as evidence in the robbery cases against the suspects.
