2 killed in crash in northwest Houston

NORTHWEST HOUSTON – Houston police are investigating a deadly crash that claimed two lives in northwest Houston.

Jose Tovar, 69, and Digna Evceda were killed on Tuesday in the 6800 block of West 43rd Street around 6:30 a.m.

According to Houston Police, Tovar and Evceda were in a green Mazda Protege on Southerland at a stop sign.  When they started to pull away, they were struck by a white GMC Sierra pickup truck traveling eastbound on West 43rd Street at a high rate of speed.

Tovar and Evceda died at the scene.  The man driving the GMC was transported to Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

So far, no charges have been filed.  The investigation is continuing.
