HOUSTON – Don't mess with Texas -- or our state flag! That's the message going viral after a designer proposed a new state flag. In fact, he says it would be good for the entire country.
It's part of a campaign called "United We Stand." The organizers want to create a message of unity in all of the state flags.

Ed Mitchell posted his designs online last week. Since then those designs have made the rounds on several websites and blogs. The design getting the most attention is, of course, Texas.
Even Mitchell himself admits the current flag is "iconic," but since he was redesigning all the state flags Texas was included.
We did a little unofficial polling on our Local 2 Facebook page and the overwhelming majority of people said they wanted to keep the flag just the way it is.
