A Texas City man must serve 28 years in prison for a traffic accident in Galveston that left a pedestrian dead and her boyfriend hurt.
Prosecutors said 31-year-old Felix Dominic Garza was sentenced Wednesday after a murder charge was reduced to intoxication manslaughter in a plea deal.
Garza was sentenced to 20 years in prison over the 2011 death of 34-year-old Amanda Medlock, of Deer Park.
The Galveston County Daily News reports Garza must also serve 20 years for aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury. Vincent Jeffus was injured in the accident along Seawall Boulevard.
The prison terms must be served concurrently.
Garza was sentenced to eight years in prison — to be served consecutively — for probation revocation for burglary of a habitation.
