Texans fans at the Houston Texans Grille in west Houston gave the team's number one draft pick a rousing round of applause Thursday night.

Most of them believed Jadeveon Clowney from the University of South Carolina was the best player in the draft and wanted him for the Texans.

"It was a good pick," said Armando Hernandez. "It's what we need in Houston."

"Pretty exciting, I was pumped," added German Aparico. "That's the guy I wanted the whole time, so I'm pretty pumped."

There were plenty of others though who were disappointed that the Texans didn't allow Johnny Manziel to follow up his career at Texas A&M with a shot here in Houston. Some already had made their own Texans Manziel jerseys.

They were finally able to let out loud cheers when Manziel was finally selected by the Cleveland Browns with the 22nd pick.

But most of the folks we spoke to were excited about Clowney's potential.

"I'm excited man," said fan Lupe Salazar. "I mean, it's just what we needed. J.J. (Watt), Jadeveon Clowney, we got Brian Cushing. The defense is set."
