New rankings of best airlines in the country

HOUSTON –  It seems more people complained to the Department of Transportation about airlines in 2014 over 2013.

The Wall Street Journal looked at all of the complaints and ranked the 8 biggest U.S. carriers, from best to worst.

Coming out on top are Alaska Airlines and Virgin America. They received the fewest complaints in 7 categories.

They are followed by Delta, JetBlue and Southwest, which was the worst performer when it came to baggage issues.

The Wall Street Journal says on average, one passenger from every Southwest flight ends up missing a bag.

Frontier, American and United round out the bottom three.
United ranked last because its on-time arrivals, cancellations and tarmac delays were all worse in 2014 over the prior year.
