Teenagers arrested in overnight crime spree, police say

HOUSTON – Four teenagers are in custody and two or three others are on the run after a crime spree overnight Wednesday, officials said.

Police said the group carjacked two drivers at gunpoint overnight and took off in another car that was left running at a gas station. They said officers spotted the group with the three stolen cars on Antoine at Tidwell.

"It was pretty crazy. It's pretty brazen to do three offenses like that and then drive around in the cars and go to a gas station," said Lt. Larry Crowson.

Two drivers led officers on chases, police said.

One of them was a Dodge Nitro that ran out of gas on Dewalt Street and Beckley Street. Officials said two female drivers were taken into custody.

Officers took two males into custody when a Honda crashed into a tree, police said.

"The third vehicle fled the area. Officers checked the area and at an apartment complex, found the vehicle abandoned," Crowson said. "The original victims reported there were at least six suspects during these offenses, so we got at least two, maybe three more outstanding at this time," said Crowson.

All four in custody range from ages 15 to 17 years old, officials said.
