Teen hides in closet during home invasion in NW Harris County

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Two burglary suspects are facing charges, accused of forcing their way into a northwest Harris County home where a 15-year-old girl was home alone.

Deputy constables from the Harris County Precinct 2 Constable's Office responded to the home in the 14200 block of Curry Creek Lane Friday morning after the teen called 911 while hiding in an upstairs bathroom.

According to her father, the teen first heard a loud boom and then looked outside from an upstairs balcony, seeing the door had been kicked in. She stayed on the phone until deputies arrived at the scene.

"I'm very proud. She's a little shaken up right now – we all are. But we're okay," said homeowner Quincy Bland.

Investigators with the Precinct 2 Constable's Office said two suspects were taken into custody after deputy constables got to the home. They recovered electronic items from a vehicle parked in front of the home. Bland said he wasn't worried about the stolen items. He was just glad his daughter was okay.

"I'm very blessed and lucky that no harm was done to my daughter and they caught the guys. I couldn't ask for anything else," said Bland.

Investigators identified the suspects as Ronald Whitney, 40, and Damion Jones, 35. The two men are facing charges of burglary of a habitation.
