HOUSTON -

Houston police are investigating after two teenage girls were robbed of their cellphones at gunpoint while jogging in their neighborhood.

The girls were robbed in June near the 10800 block of Fuqua.

Shona Cook said her 17-year-old daughter and a friend were jogging at night when an armed man approached them, held a gun to her daughter Kierra's head and demanded their cell phones.

"I just want this guy off the streets so he doesn't hurt anybody else or terrorize anybody else," Cook said.

According to officials, surveillance cameras from a nearby convenience store captured the suspect walking into the store a few minutes before the robbery occurred.

"The police got the pictures. My daughter pointed him out right away because he had gone into the convenience store and tried to borrow a lighter from somebody," Cook said.

The suspect is about 6 feet tall and believed to be between 18 and 20 years old.

The suspect has not been identified.

Crime Stoppers of Houston has offered up to a $5,000 reward for information about this suspect. Tips can be submitted by phone at 713-222-TIPS (8477), by texting  TIP610 plus your tip to CRIMES (274637) or online.
