Teen driver rescued after losing control in NW Harris County

Authorities say teen was driving more than 100 mph

HOUSTON – A teenage boy was rescued after crashing his vehicle in northwest Harris County Thursday morning.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office said the driver control of his vehicle on Fallbrook near Jones Road around 9:30 a.m. Thursday.

Deputies said the teen driver was heading west on Fallbrook going more than 100 mph when he hit several curbs, ran into the median, slammed into a box truck and then flew into the embankment just barely missing the retention pond.

Officials said the driver landed on one of the trees.

The 19-year-old driver was transported by Life Flight to Ben Taub Hospital where he was undergoing surgery, according to the sheriff's office.

Authorities do not believe drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash.
