A teenager has been charged in connection with the graffiti vandalism of the space shuttle replica at Space Center Houston.
The Harris County Precinct 8 Constable's Office says it has filed charges against 19-year-old Jesse Ray Calloway, of Houston, for his part in the vandalism to the mock Space Shuttle Independence that occurred in late November.
After receiving an anonymous tip from Crime Stoppers, deputies say an extensive investigation lead to the charges against Calloway. Other suspects are believed to be involved, said Precinct 8.
On Nov. 27, 2013, deputies say they were called to Space Center Houston located to investigate the vandalism to the mock shuttle. Center officials reported that sometime between 11 p.m. on Nov. 26 and 9 a.m. on Nov. 27, individuals, including Calloway, breached the perimeter of the facility and spray painted vulgar and racial messages along the right side of the recently installed mock shuttle.
Calloway has been charged with committing the offense of graffiti and his bond set at $1,000.
