A Colorado County teen has been arrested and charged for her involvement in an abduction and bank robbery in Columbus.
Officials said on August 1, a First National Bank of Eagle Lake employee and her husband were kidnapped at gunpoint and forced to help two suspects rob the bank.
The suspects were identified as brothers 21-year-old Preston Kutach and 20-year-old Jordan Kutach.
Police said the bank employee, Renee Schoppe, and her husband, Doug, were at home when they were bound, kidnapped, and transported to the bank by the suspects.
The brothers then forced the Ms. Schoppe to give them money. After leaving the bank, the Doug Schoppe was able to gain access to a firearm inside the vehicle and shot at the suspects.
Police responded to the bank where they found both suspects with gunshot wounds. Preston Kutach died from his wound and his younger brother, Jordan, was transported to Memorial Hermann in critical condition.
Upon further investigation, the Colorado County Sheriff’s Office issued warrants for 19-year-old Danielle Lynn Harney, of Rock Island, for her role in the robbery and kidnapping. She was charged with two counts of aggravated kidnapping and two counts of aggravated robbery.
Harney was arrested on August 8 and taken to the Colorado County Detention Center.
Bond was set at $400,000 for all four counts.
She remains in custody.
