It is the final day of the Democratic National Convention and the day everyone here has been waiting for. Tonight, Hillary Clinton formally accepts the Democratic party nomination for president of the United States of America.

I talked to members of the Texas delegation this morning who told me they were still buzzing with excitement after last night's speeches that concluded with President Barack Obama.

Congressional members from Texas spoke to the delegation this morning with a focus on the future.

I interviewed Congressman Joaquin Castro, considered a rising star of the party, about his possible run for Senate against Houston's Ted Cruz.

Hear from him and others anticipating Hillary's big night on Channel 2 News at 4, 5 and 6.

The star of the Texas Democrats Delegation breakfast this morning was a senator from Vermont.

Former presidential candidate Bernie Sanders took the podium to a cheering crowd.

"There are more people in this room than in the state of Vermont," Sanders joked.

His appearance came just one day after chaos at the breakfast when one of his delegates condemned Hillary Clinton during what was supposed to be a unity speech.

Sanders thanked the delegates, "even though we didn't do so great in Texas," he said.

Yesterday I met 17-year-old Clarissa Rodriguez of Texas City. The Brazosport High School student is the youngest delegate at the convention and today she got to meet the man who inspired her interest in politics.

Her reaction to meeting (and hugging!) Sanders as well as thoughts from Houstonians here at the DNC coming up today on Channel 2 News at 4, 5 and 6 p.m.

Day 2 of the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia kicked off with chaos at a breakfast meeting for the Texas Delegation.

Many Democrats thought after last night's speeches by First Lady Michelle Obama, Senator Elizabeth Warren and Senator Bernie Sanders that the party was closer to healing it's deep divided.

But this morning during what was billed as a "unity" speech, a Texas Bernie delegate took to the podium stunned the crowd.

"To be clear, we are condemning our current presumptive nominee," the man said.

The crowd immediately began booing and shouting down the speaker.

The state party chair, Gilberto Hinojosa told me the man was a "rogue Bernie delegate" who had gone against the wishes of other Bernie backers.

The delegate turned in his credentials and will not attend the rest of the convention.

A wild turn of events that has many anxious to see what Sanders supporters will do during the roll call vote on the floor of the convention later today.
