A driver lost control of his car and slammed into a northeast Houston home at around 5:30 Monday morning, according to police.
Police say a family was inside the home at the time of the crash.
Dana Hyder, the homeowner, was sleeping on the couch watching TV when the SUV slammed into the front of his home.
"Just heard a loud crash and my legs just flew over the couch and I didn't know what happened," said Hyder.
According to a neighbor who witnessed the accident, the driver swerved across two lanes of traffic, jumped the curb, hit the fence then careened into the front of the house.
Linda Callier, Hyder's next-door neighbor said, "He was dazed when he got out of the car this morning because I was telling him to stay in the car until the ambulance got here because I called 911, his head was bleeding."
Emergency crews showed up to the home on Montgomery Road near Victory Drive a few minutes after the 911 call and rushed Hyder to the hospital. He is expected to survive his injuries.
Hyder says he will contact his insurance company and the insurance company of the driver who crashed as he tries to get things fixed up.
Houston police have not released the name of the driver, who does not face any criminal charges as of now.
