COLLEGE STATION, Texas – A suspicious package prompted officials to issue a campuswide alert Thursday morning at Texas A&M University.
According to the Code Maroon Twitter account, the suspicious package was reported at 10:49 a.m. in the General Services Complex.

As it turns out, the suspicious package was a prospective student's admissions application, according to a release from the school.
The student sent the package, along with a note that read, "flip switch."
The battery-operated light set was designed to draw attention to the application.
The school said that more than 500 people had been evacuated from the building, and that the building would remain closed until further notice.
A message posted at 12:45 p.m. stated that the package had been destroyed and no explosives were found.
The building was reopened by 1p.m.
