HOUSTON – Police are searching for smash-and-grab suspects who opened fire on security guards during a getaway attempt early Tuesday.
According to Houston police, an unknown number of suspects were attempting to steal a safe from a Subway in the 800 block of Rankin Rd. around 4:30 a.m.

Security guards saw the suspects, startling them. The suspects fled the scene and fired at the guards.
No one was injured.
The suspects did not get away with the safe.
