HARRIS COUNTY, Texas - Deputies said a good Samaritan is credited with turning in a hit and run driver in northeast Harris County.
Investigators said around 11:30 p.m. Friday a blue pickup truck was driving down Beaumont Highway near FM 526 when it turned in front of an oncoming red pickup truck.
The red pickup slammed into the other truck, causing the driver to lose control and crash into a nearby ditch.
The driver that caused the accident took off, but investigators said a quick-thinking witness followed him to a home.
The witness called deputies and told them where the driver was, investigators said.
Deputies said they went to the home, took the driver into custody and brought him back to the scene.
The driver of the crashed truck was taken to the hospital in serious condition.
No word yet on any charges.
