HOUSTON - A suspected drunk driver has been taken into custody after hitting a patrol car Monday morning.
Around 1:30 a.m. Monday, an 18-wheeler carrying mulch lost some of its load on the Southwest Freeway near Wilcrest.
Police blocked off several lanes so the mess could be cleaned up. That's when they said a drunk driver drove past two Houston police patrol cars and hit the side mirror of one of them.
Officers chased the driver down the exit ramp and onto the frontage road. He eventually stopped near Dorrance Lane.
Police said the driver was given field sobriety tests at the scene and was taken into custody.
Officials said he could face drunk driving and failure to stop charges.
