Two suspects are wanted for robbing an elderly man after he used an ATM at a Baytown bank.
On Tuesday night, the 79-year-old victim told police he withdrew cash from an ATM at a Chase Bank in the 5000 block of Garth Road. He noticed a man standing behind him.
“When he walked in he stood over to the side, then walked over like he was going to use the ATM,” said Edwin Kyle.
Kyle said when he returned to his vehicle, the same man who was behind him at the machine, was now approaching him and yelling “Give it to me! Give it to me! or I’ll shoot you!”
Baytown police say the victim told them he didn’t see the suspect with a gun, so he refused to give up the money. He says the suspect then threw a punch, which he deflected, and threw another punch which hit him in the face and caused him to fall to the ground.
“He swung on me. I blocked that and then I swung back,” Kyle said.
Kyle says the suspect then took $340 and jumped into a sedan driven by a woman.
The elderly victim wasn’t giving up without a fight.
“I’m a little sore. I’m sore upside my head where he hit me, too” he said.
Police say multiple witnesses confirmed the incident.
Kyle says he won’t be afraid the next time he visits an ATM because he will be ready to protect himself.
“I’ll have a pistol in my pocket when I do and I will not hesitate to shoot,” he said.
The suspect is described as a black man, 5 foot 6, medium build, approximately 185 lbs, taper fade hair, between 20s-30s, wearing a white T-shirt and blue short jeans.
The driver is described as a white female, short blond hair, between 20s-30s. She was seen in a silver 4-door Mazda with tinted windows.
