HOUSTON -

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and the Houston Texans released results Thursday of a poll on the future of the NRG Astrodome.

According to the survey, conducted by the University of Houston Hobby Center for Public Policy and Rice University's Baker Institute for Public Policy, the vast majority of Harris County adults are keenly aware of the issues surrounding the future of the NRG Astrodome.

When tested as a single option, 57.1 percent of those surveyed support or strongly support the "Discovery Green-Type" private-public proposal, while only 17.6 percent oppose or strongly oppose it; 33.9 percent support or strongly support the status quo option or leaving it in its current state; 36.7 percent oppose or strongly oppose it.

When presented with the private-public partnership versus the status quo option, 64.8 percent favored the private-public partnership and 35.2 percent favored the status quo option.

Six hundred Harris County residents were surveyed between July 22-31.
