Authorities have released surveillance video of a suspect who shot a man while he was mowing his lawn in north Harris County.

Deputies say the 56-year-old man was mowing his yard in the 1000 block of Progreso on April 18 at around 8:15 am when a suspect described as a light-skinned black male, about 6 feet tall wearing black pants and a black shirt exited the passenger side of a gray Chevrolet Malibu or Impala.

The suspect approached the victim and pointed a handgun at him demanding his wallet, deputies say. When the victim refused, the suspect pushed him down to the ground, then shot him.

The homeowner then was able to fend the suspect off with his lawnmower, according to deputies.

The suspect ran back to the vehicle and fled without the victim's wallet.

The homeowner was transported to Ben Taub Hospital for a non-life threatening wound.

Investigators say they believe the suspect may be responsible for other aggravated robberies in north Harris County.

Anyone with information about the suspects’ identity in this case and/or location is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Houston at 713-222-TIPS or to submit a tip via the iWatchHarrisCounty phone app.
