HOUSTON -

When it comes to matters of the heart, apparently height does matter.

New research reveals why the majority of women would never consider a shorter man. The study out of Rice University and the University of North Texas looked at men and women's dating profiles.

They found that 13.5 percent of men wanted to date only women that were shorter than they were. But 49.9 percent of women wanted to only date men that are taller than they are.

Women in the study said they preferred a tall partner for protection and to feel more feminine themselves.
