Friendswood police increase patrols after storm damage

FRIENDSWOOD, Texas – The Friendswood Police Department sent out a warning to after the weekend storms. It is urging residents and contractors who do not have business in the damaged subdivisions to stay out of those areas.

The police department said it has increased patrols in those subdivisions, and anyone who doesn't live there or who isn't a legitimate contractor can expect to be stopped by officers.

The police want homeowners to be aware of financial contractor fraud. They are urging residents to be cautious of door-to-door solicitors who hand out fliers and promise to speed the insurance or contracting process, especially those who ask for large cash deposits or advance payments in full.

Any door-to-door solicitor who is not permitted by the city should be reported to Friendswood Police Department.
