Students win tickets to Rodeo concert

HOUSTON – A few hard-working students are going to the Rodeo as a reward for doing well in the classroom.

About 2,500 students were nominated for the Reliant Student Recognition Program.

Two students were surprised on Tuesday when they got tickets to see Demi Lovato and Austin Mahone.

"Thank you so much," student Hannah Reeves said. "So honored to receive this."

Hannah's mom said her daughter has been working very hard on her schoolwork.

"I'm so proud of her," Susan Reeves said. "Going to the Houston Rodeo is such a perfect prize."

"I really wasn't expecting to win this," student Iyana Thomas said.

"I'm very proud of her," father Basil Abdullah said. "She just puts a smile on my face because I know that one day I won't be here and she'll take over."

Two students won four grand-prize VIP tickets and 19 more students won four suite tickets.

In addition to concert tickets, the students received certificates, T-shirts and other goodies.

Reliant's program has highlighted the outstanding work of students since 2007.
