HOUSTON – A suspicious backpack was reported Thursday morning at Bush Elementary School, but all students are safe and have returned to class, according to Houston ISD.
According to HISD officials, there was a suspicious backpack found on the school grounds at 13800 Westerloch Dr. in west Houston. HISD says the school was evacuated to a safe distance.
HPD Bomb squad and the HISD explosives detection team were called out to the scene as police blocked streets in the area to manage traffic.
HISD says the backpack was found to be harmless and students returned to normal end-of-year school events.
